The Indonesian archipelago, by
virtue of its unique geographical situation, process
an extraordinary vast potential of ocean wealth. the
accessibility of adequate sea transportation system,
become a vital necessity in the exploitation of such
vast natural endowment. Having considered the insufficiency
of the marine service at that time, PT. Jasa Marina
Indah, well known as JMI, was established in February
1977. The establishment of JMI is aiming to a specific
aspect of Indonesia sea transportation, for which
it is involved in ships engineering, an integrated
shipbuilding and docking as well as ship repair.
The service capacity of JMI has
undergone constant expansion in congruity with the
increasing demand of customers needs. On December
29th 1982, the company initiated the operation of
its graving dock at port of Tanjung emas Semarang,
to meet the demand for ships building and maintenance
related to docking and floating repair.
JMI experienced rapid growth
over the last two decades following the commencement
as a result of its awareness to keep up with the stunning
pace of Indonesia economy and industry growth. Having
responded to the increasing market demand, in 1993
JMI commenced the construction of the yard unit II
at the port of Tanjung Emas Semarang. Upon final completion
of the constructions master plan, the new unit will
boast greater capacity and facility as compared to
unit I, and will present itself as more comprehensive
and modern shipyard. The operation of the two units
are highly integrated to accommodate both state owned
and private fleet as well foreign as customers.
The growth of company has been
consistency enhanced and improved which adheres to
the compliance to the international standards of quality
system such as ISO to ensure the persistence quality
of the work. Through proper implementation of these
international standard, JMI achieved ISO 9002/94 certification
by the end of 1998 from the American Bureau of Shipping
(ABS) Quality Evaluations, Inc. The certification
is a testimony to JMI commitment to wards entering
the era of globalization.
